Talks & Conversations
For libraries, festivals, schools and community events, I speak about curiosity, storytelling and the things children notice. Each session can be tailored to the audience, with plenty of room for questions, conversation and the unexpected places stories can take us.
Look Closer: How Curiosity Becomes Story
Where do stories begin? Often in the smallest things. Yvette explores how curiosity, observation and the questions we ask can turn ordinary moments into story ideas, encouraging audiences to look a little closer and see what might be hiding in plain sight.
The Things Children Notice
Children are often paying attention to far more than we realise. This thoughtful talk explores the details, feelings and small shifts children notice, and how seeing the world from a child’s point of view can shape honest, meaningful stories.
Back Yourself: Confidence, Courage and Taking the Next Step
Drawing on a career across leadership, governance, motorsport, business and writing, together with lived experience of navigating difficult and defining moments, Yvette shares what she has learned about confidence, self-belief and taking action before you feel completely ready. This practical and personal talk explores how the experiences we carry can shape us, how confidence is built through action, and what it can mean to back yourself enough to take the next step.
